Special thanks to the contributors of the open-source code that was used in this project: Elastic Search, WordNet, and note that Reverse Dictionary uses third party scripts (such as Google Analytics and advertisements) which use cookies. Flowering from April to October, these perennial wildflowers are distinguished from our other native Buttercups by their flowers being somewhat smaller (15-25mm. It is recorded up to 4,000 ft in Britain. The definitions are sourced from the famous and open-source WordNet database, so a huge thanks to the many contributors for creating such an awesome free resource. In spring, damp grasslands and moist pastures are transformed by our beloved Meadow Buttercups as they hold their shiny yellow flowers up to the sun. Meadow buttercup is an erect perennial, native in grassland especially on damp and calcareous soils. Creeping buttercup is a known host for many microorganisms, viruses, insects, and nematodes. The Cackling Goose looks like a miniature version of the widespread Canada Goose, with which it was once combined as a single species. The flowers are visited by honey bees, butterflies, moths, and beetles for pollen or nectar. Geese and other birds readily eat the leaves and seeds of buttercup. ![]() In case you didn't notice, you can click on words in the search results and you'll be presented with the definition of that word (if available). Protoanemonin can kill grazing animals if ingested. For those interested, I also developed Describing Words which helps you find adjectives and interesting descriptors for things (e.g. Verdone Extra) or a weed-and-feed type, it will probably take two or three applications to eradicate it because of the reservoir of seed and more mature plants may recover. Treat the whole lawn with a selective weedkiller on its own ( eg. Tall buttercup (Ranunculus acris) is an exotic perennial forb that can be weedy in moist fields and pastures. That project is closer to a thesaurus in the sense that it returns synonyms for a word (or short phrase) query, but it also returns many broadly related words that aren't included in thesauri. Some geese still follow the usual migration pattern, but large flocks have established permanent residences as far south as Florida. and migrating further south in the winter. I made this tool after working on Related Words which is a very similar tool, except it uses a bunch of algorithms and multiple databases to find similar words to a search query. Habitat and Distribution Originally, the Canada goose was native to North America, breeding in Canada and the northern U.S. Much of the loss has been recent (97 since 1935) and is attributed to changes in farming, including the use of artificial fertilisers, changes in cutting regimes (with a move from summer hay to earlier silage cutting) and drainage. So in a sense, this tool is a "search engine for words", or a sentence to word converter. Flower-rich lowland meadows and pastures were once a feature of every farm, but only a tiny fraction remain today. It acts a lot like a thesaurus except that it allows you to search with a definition, rather than a single word. The engine has indexed several million definitions so far, and at this stage it's starting to give consistently good results (though it may return weird results sometimes). For example, if you type something like "longing for a time in the past", then the engine will return "nostalgia". It simply looks through tonnes of dictionary definitions and grabs the ones that most closely match your search query. The way Reverse Dictionary works is pretty simple.
